Maple Impex is tucked away in the B. K. T. Layout in Sulur, at No. 13-2-1. It’s a residential-feeling area, so it doesn't feel like a big industrial zone. We’ve been here for a bit now, just handling the day-to-day work of importing and exporting. Most of our time is spent checking weights and making sure the customs papers are all in order. It’s a lot of detail work that isn't very exciting, but it has to be done right every time. The office is just a regular room with some desks. We have a small yard where the vans pull in to load up. In Sulur, things move at a certain pace. We aren't in a huge rush, but we don't slack off either. Sometimes we have to stay late when a shipment is delayed at the border or the port. The light in the hallway flickers sometimes, and we keep meaning to fix it but never get around to it. We know most of the delivery drivers who come through here by their first names. It’s a small operation, really. We just focus on the tasks at hand and try to make sure nothing gets lost in transit. It’s just a normal job for us. We’ve stayed in this layout because it’s convenient and we like the people around here. There is always a stack of empty pallets near the back gate waiting to be used.
