We have been running Kabilan Arts at number 88 on Race Course for quite a while now. The area is usually nice for a walk, and having the shop here makes the work day feel a bit calmer. It’s basically just a space where we keep all our supplies and work on whatever projects come in. There is usually some paint on the floor and brushes soaking in jars around the place. We don't spend much on decorating the shop because the work itself takes up most of the room. People find us mainly because they know the Race Course area well. It’s not a high-pressure environment; we just get on with things at our own pace. Some days are really quiet, and we just spend time organizing the shelves or sketching out new ideas. Other days, we have people popping in every hour asking about different bits of art or framing. We don't have a big team or anything, just a couple of us who enjoy making things. The light in here is pretty good in the mornings, which helps when we're doing detail work. We’ve seen a lot of people come and go from the neighborhood, but we’ve stayed put in this spot. It’s a simple setup, nothing like the big galleries you see in the city center. We just like having a place to be creative and earn a living without too much fuss or corporate noise. It’s a bit messy but that’s just how we work.
