Coimbatore is known for its industry and cars, so we fit right in with the local scene. The shop is usually full of the sound of tools clinking and engines running. We’ve got a lot of space for the vehicles, but it still feels a bit cramped when we’re having a busy Tuesday. The floor has those permanent oil stains that you just can’t scrub away, no matter how hard you try. We’re not the type of place that has a shiny lobby with free coffee. We’ve got a few plastic chairs for people to sit on while they wait, and maybe an old newspaper from three days ago. It’s a practical environment. Babu is usually floating around between the front and the back, making sure things aren't getting backed up. We talk to each other in short bursts because there’s always something else to do. The weather in Tamil Nadu can get pretty humid, so we keep the big doors open to let whatever air is moving come through. It’s honest work, looking after cars and making sure they’re running right. We’ve been here at this location for a good while and the locals know us.
