Laxmangarh Krishi Fed Producer Company Limited is based out of the village of Singodra. We are located at Ranjeet Singh Mahariya’s place, he is the son of Sharwan Ram Mahariya. Singodra is a small place where news travels fast, so people usually know where to find us. We do not have a corporate office with a glass front. We just use a part of the house to keep our records and meet with the other farmers. It is a very practical arrangement. We spend a lot of time discussing the agricultural cycles and how we can help each other out with the harvest. Ranjeet Singh’s house is a familiar spot for many of us. We sit and talk about the markets or the weather while watching the daily life of the village go by. It is not a complicated operation. We just wanted to have a collective way to handle our agricultural business in Laxmangarh. Sometimes the meetings can go on for a while, especially when there is a lot to decide, but we always manage to get through it. There is a sense of community here that you do not find in big companies. We are all neighbors, after all. We just take things one day at a time and try to make sure everyone in the group is doing okay with their crops and their work. It is a long road, but we are in it together.
