V-Four Lighting

Our shop is tucked away on the first floor of an old building at No. 171, Govindappa Naicken Street. If you’ve ever walked through Sowcarpet, you know exactly what the vibe is like. It’s narrow streets, lots of people carrying boxes, and the sound of trade everywhere. V-Four Lighting has been operating out of this spot for a bit. The stairs up to the first floor are a little steep, so we always tell people to watch their step. Inside, it’s mostly shelves filled with different lighting parts and fixtures. It’s not a showroom where everything is perfectly staged under spotlights. It’s more of a working warehouse and office mix. We spend a lot of time checking inventory and making sure what goes out is correct. The heat in Sowcarpet can be something else during the summer, but we’ve got a couple of fans that keep the air moving. We aren't big on fancy meetings or corporate talk. We just talk to the customers, figure out what they need for their projects, and get it done. Dealing with the traffic in this part of Chennai is a daily challenge, especially when we are trying to get supplies in or out. But that’s just how it is here. We’ve grown used to the chaos of Govindappa Naicken Street and we wouldn't really know what to do with a quiet office anyway. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit by the window until it comes back, watching the crowd below.
