If you ever walk down General Muthiah Mudali Street, you know how crowded it gets. We are located at number 19/20, right in the thick of things. It’s a narrow street, and there’s always someone shouting or a cart being pushed past our front door. Uttam Agencies has been here through a lot of changes in the neighborhood. Our space is packed with stock, from the floor right up to the ceiling in some corners. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is. We spend our mornings taking orders over the phone and writing out bills by hand sometimes when the system is slow. It’s a local trading spot, so we see a lot of the same faces every week. Some of the shopkeepers nearby come over for tea in the afternoon. We don’t have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a counter, some stools, and a lot of work to get through before the sun goes down. The street stays noisy until late at night, and we’re usually here making sure the last deliveries are ready for the morning. It’s an old-school way of doing business, but it works for us. We like the energy of this area. It feels like the real heart of the city's trade. We just keep things moving and try to stay organized among all the boxes and paperwork.
