Our office is on the first floor of the Kg Masterprise building. The address is a bit of a mouthful because of the old and new numbers—it’s Old 28 and New 144 on Nelson Manickam Road. If you’ve ever been to Mehta Nagar in Chennai, you know how the traffic is. It’s always moving, always loud. We’re right there in the middle of it. We focus on transport stuff, which is ironic given how stuck we sometimes get on the road outside. The office has these big windows that look out over the street. Sometimes I just stand there watching the cars while I’m on the phone. It’s a busy floor with people coming in to check on their shipments or talk about routes. We have a lot of maps and schedules pinned to the walls. They’re getting a bit yellow at the edges now. We don’t have a receptionist in a suit; usually, you just walk in and find whoever is at their desk. It’s a lot of coordination and trying to stay ahead of the delays. We drink a lot of coffee here. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a blessing in the Tamil Nadu heat. We’ve been here for a while and the routine doesn’t change much. It’s just about getting things from one place to another without too much trouble.
