S.R. Exports

Our office is on the second floor of the D.B. Khona Building on Subramanian Road. Being on Willingdon Island means we are right in the heart of the port area in Kochi. You can always smell the sea salt and the diesel from the ships. S.R. Exports has been in this building for a long time. We do not have an elevator, so we get our exercise climbing up to the second floor every morning. The office is full of old filing cabinets and maps of shipping routes. It gets quite humid here, so the ceiling fans are always spinning at top speed. We spend most of our time on the phone or tracking containers that are moving across the ocean. It is a lot of waiting and then a lot of rushing all at once. We do not have any fancy furniture, just sturdy tables that can hold the weight of all our ledgers. Sometimes the harbor noise makes it hard to hear, but we have gotten used to it. We are just a small team of people who know how the shipping business works. There is no corporate polish here, just people who are not afraid to get their hands dirty or stay late to finish a shipment. We take our work seriously but we do not feel the need to boast about it. It is just what we do here on the island.
