Smei Trading (India) Pvt. Ltd. is situated at AJ-34, which is also known as New 24, on 4th Street in Anna Nagar. The double numbering on the street can be a bit of a headache for delivery drivers, so we usually have to stand outside and wave them down so they don't get lost. Anna Nagar is a nice area with plenty of trees, which makes the walk to the office pleasant enough in the mornings when it isn't too hot. Our office is a busy place. We do a lot of trading across different sectors, so there are always samples of various products sitting on the windowsills and floor. It’s not the most organized looking place, but we know where everything is kept. We have a small staff, and we’ve all been working together for a long time now. We don't use any fancy management systems; we mostly just talk to each other across the room to get things done. There’s a small kitchen in the back where we make coffee and sometimes heat up our lunches. We aren't interested in being a big corporate entity with polished floors and glass walls. We prefer the comfortable, slightly cluttered feel of our current office. It’s a place where we can just be ourselves and get the work done without any pretense or fancy meetings. Every day brings a different challenge, whether it’s a late shipment or a supplier issue, but we just handle it as it comes and move on to the next thing.
