Shreetha Boutique

We are over at No. 1 Kanagavalli Street in the Anna Nagar part of Puzhuthivakkam. It’s a small shop right on the corner. You can usually see some of our colorful fabrics hanging near the doorway if the weather is clear. We don’t have a huge staff, just a couple of us who know how to handle a needle and thread. The shop gets quite warm in the summer, so we keep the door open to get a bit of a breeze. People from the neighborhood stop by to get their clothes altered or to see if we have any new salwar sets ready. We have a big mirror in the back for fittings, but the floor is a bit uneven so it wobbles sometimes. We spend a lot of time sorting through buttons and thread to find the perfect match. It’s a lot of manual work and our eyes get tired by the end of the day. The street outside is usually busy with people going to the market, so there’s always something to look at. We’ve been here for a few years now and most of the ladies around here know our names. We don’t do any big advertising. We just rely on the fact that we do a decent job with the tailoring. If a machine breaks down, it’s a big headache, but we have a guy who comes to fix it pretty quickly. It’s a steady rhythm for us.
