You can find us in Purasaiwalkam at No. 1, New Manickam Street. Shree Maruthi Artificial Limb Centre has been a part of this Chennai neighborhood for a while. We are not a big hospital or a fancy clinic. Our place is more like a workshop where we make and fix limbs for people. It’s a small building and we have to use every inch of space we have. The rooms are full of tools, plaster, and different materials we use for our work. It can get a bit messy, but that's the reality of making things by hand. We spend a lot of time talking to the people who come in. It’s a quiet kind of work, very focused. Sometimes the street outside gets very loud with the traffic from New Manickam Street, but we just get on with it. We don't have a big marketing budget or a shiny reception area. Usually, someone is just sitting at the front desk to help with paperwork. We are just regular people doing a specific job. The building is old and the stairs are a bit narrow. We’ve seen many people come through these doors over the years. It’s a humble place, and we don't try to make it seem like something it isn't. We just work with what we have here in Purasaiwalkam. Most of our day is spent making adjustments and ensuring things fit right. There is always a lot to do.
