Saffron Home

Saffron Home sits at 14, Strotten Muttia, Mudali Street. It’s an old part of the neighborhood, and you can really feel that history when you walk through the front door. The building has these thick walls that keep things a bit cooler, which is a real blessing in the summer months when the humidity is high. Mudali Street is one of those places where everyone seems to know everyone else’s business, but in a friendly enough way. We mostly handle things for the home, as the name suggests. It’s not a high-pressure environment here. We have stacks of inventory tucked into the corners and the smell of old paper and maybe a bit of dust is always around. People wander in sometimes just to ask for directions or have a quick chat, and we don’t mind it at all. The street outside is narrow, so there’s always a bit of a scramble when a car tries to go past a rickshaw. We’ve grown used to the sounds of the bells and the shouting from the street vendors. At number 14, we just keep our heads down and do our jobs. It’s not about being the biggest or the flashiest operation. We just want to make sure the things we send out from Saffron Home are right. It’s a simple way of working, passed down through the years. We take our tea together in the late afternoon, and that’s usually the highlight of the day.
