Royan Plasticraft Pvt. Ltd. is located at No.3, Nathan Street, Harrington Road in Chetput. It’s a busy part of Chennai and the traffic outside is almost always a mess. Inside, the machines are pretty loud, and it gets quite hot because of the molding processes. We have been here for a while now. The building is tucked away on a side street, so it's a bit quieter than the main road, but not by much. We have stacks of plastic parts everywhere and rows of molds that we’ve used for years. It’s a very practical environment. We wear old clothes because you’re bound to get grease or dust on you at some point during the shift. We don't have a fancy lunchroom, just a corner with a table and a few chairs where we eat our tiffin. Most of us have been working here together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. We just know the routine. Sometimes the machines break down and we have to spend half the day fixing them, which is frustrating but it’s part of the life. We don't do much in the way of sales pitches. We just take the orders that come in and try to get them finished on time. It’s a gritty, noisy job but it’s what we do. We just keep the machines running.
