Being based in Manurpet is all about the constant noise of metal being moved around. We are located at No 640A on Pillaiyar Koil Street, right in the thick of the industrial side of things. Padi is a very busy spot for this kind of business. Padmavati Steel & Alloys deals with steel and different types of alloys every single day. The floors in our place are usually covered in a bit of dust and some metal shavings here and there. That is just the way it is when you work with these materials. We get trucks coming in and out of the street all the time, which can make the area a bit tight for space when a big delivery arrives. It is not a glamorous job at all, but it is what we know. The guys in the back are always busy handling the heavy stuff and moving stock around. We have a small office area where we take the orders and answer the phone. Sometimes it gets incredibly hot during the summer months, but we just keep the fans going and get through the workday. We aren't some massive corporation with fancy slogans or anything. We just sell metal. If we have what you need in stock, we tell you straight. If we don’t, we see how fast we can get it in. Most of our regulars are local workshops and builders from around Padi who just need their supplies delivered without any extra fuss. Pillaiyar Koil Street has been our home for a long time. We know the other shop owners and the guys at the local tea stall. It is a community of people who work hard and don’t care much for show. (257 words)
