Books Delivery

Down on the Main Road in Kalaivanar Nagar, Padi, you’ll find us at No. 15/13. It’s a small place that is absolutely packed with books. We go by the name Books Delivery. The smell of old and new paper is the first thing you notice when you step inside. It’s actually quite a nice smell compared to the bus exhaust from the Padi traffic right outside our door. We spend the whole day sorting through different titles and packing them into brown cardboard boxes. The tape dispenser makes a loud screeching sound that echoes in the small room all day long. We have shelves reaching all the way up to the ceiling. Sometimes I have to use a shaky metal ladder to get something from the very top row. It’s a bit of a maze in here. We don’t really have a storefront for people to browse through, it’s more of a hub where we get things ready to send out. The heat in Kalaivanar Nagar can be pretty tough, especially with all that paper sitting around. We try to keep the windows open, but then the dust from the road comes in. It’s a constant battle to keep things clean. We handle all sorts of books, from school texts to stories. Most of the time we are just checking lists and making sure the addresses are written clearly. It’s quiet work.
