Nandhi Systems & Peripherals

Finding us in Kodambakkam isn't too hard if you know where the RAM Kalyana Mandapam is. Nandhi Systems & Peripherals is tucked behind it on V O C 3rd Street at number 5. On days when there’s a wedding at the mandapam, the whole street gets packed with cars and people in their best clothes. We can hear the music and the announcements from our desks, which makes for an interesting background while we work. The shop itself is fairly simple, with a few workbenches and some shelves for the peripherals. We’ve got a lot of cables hanging on the walls and boxes stacked in the corner. It’s not a large space, so we have to be careful not to trip over things when we’re moving around. The street is a bit narrow, so it feels quite tucked away from the main road noise. We usually start our day by sweeping the front step and getting the computers turned on. We’ve got a small window that lets in a bit of light, but it’s mostly fluorescent lamps in here. People from the neighborhood come to us because we’re close by and they don't want to travel far. It’s a comfortable routine, and we’ve gotten to know the rhythms of the street over the years. We don't bother with much ceremony here, we just get on with the repairs and the sales as they come in.
