Our shop, M/S Mdm Engineering And Technologies, is on Sri Ragavendra Swami Street in Ambattur. It’s right off the Athipet Main Road. Ambattur is a big hub for engineering, so there’s a lot of competition around here. We just try to do our own thing. The building isn’t very big, but we have enough space for our lathes and milling machines. It gets really dusty because of all the traffic on the main road. We spend a lot of time cleaning the machines so they don't get jammed up. There’s three of us who run the place. We’ve known each other since we were kids. We don't really have titles or anything. We all just do whatever needs to be done. Sometimes that’s fixing a machine, and sometimes that’s cleaning the floor. We don't have a big sign outside, just a small one near the door. Most people find us through word of mouth. We don't do any marketing. We just figure if we do a decent job, people will come back. The street gets flooded sometimes when it rains heavily, so we have to move everything off the floor. It’s a bit of a hassle. But we’ve been here this long, so we’re used to it. We just keep working and hope the machines don't give us too much trouble. It’s not much, but it’s our own little place.
