Marine Software Tecs

Our office is tucked away on Thambu Chetty Street in George Town. It’s an old building, number 166, and we are up on the third floor. If you know George Town, you know how narrow and crowded the streets are. There’s a lot of history in these walls. Marine Software Tecs is where we handle computer stuff specifically for the shipping and marine world. It makes sense being so close to the port area. The stairs up to the third floor are a bit steep, so we get our exercise every day. Inside, it’s a mix of old architecture and modern computers. We’ve got some old maps on the walls and plenty of coffee mugs on the desks. It gets pretty humid here, especially in the summers, but we manage. We aren’t a huge team. Most of us have been working together for years and we know the shipping business pretty well. We spend our time writing code and answering emails from people out at sea or in the docks. It’s a bit of a niche, but it’s what we do. The neighborhood is always noisy with vendors and carts, which we’ve just gotten used to. It’s a solid place to work, even if it’s a bit cramped sometimes. We usually close up when the sun goes down and the street gets a bit quieter. It is just a regular job in a busy part of the city.
