Maharaja Appliances

We are over at 23 Venguchetty Street. It’s a narrow street and can be hard to find a parking spot. Maharaja Appliances has been around here for quite a bit. We sell and look at various home gadgets like mixers, irons, and stoves. The shop is small, so we have to stack things high. You’ll see boxes everywhere. Some are new, some are old ones brought in for repair. We have a small workbench in the back with a soldering iron and some screwdrivers. Often, we are just cleaning out dust from an old motor. It’s a bit messy with wires and spare parts. Customers walk in off the street with all sorts of problems. We listen to what's wrong and see if we can fix it right then. Sometimes they just want to buy something new. We have a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit. It’s a local shop where we know many of the faces. We don't use a computer for everything; a lot is still written in a big ledger. It feels more personal that way. We close up around eight in the evening. It’s a decent living and we enjoy talking to the people who stop by. Sometimes someone brings us a snack or a cold drink while we work on their machine. It is just a regular shop in a busy neighborhood. We do our best with what we have and try to be helpful.
