The Trunk

The Trunk is located right on No. 61/25 Rangarajapuram Main Road. If you know Kodambakkam, you know how crowded it gets around here. Our shop is just one of many along this stretch, and we’ve been here long enough that the local auto drivers know us by name. It’s a small space, really. We have shelves lined up with whatever we are stocking that month. Some days it feels a bit cramped when the deliveries arrive all at once. We usually have the fan running full speed because the Chennai heat doesn't mess around. People walk in from the main road just to escape the sun for a minute, and we don't mind. We aren't trying to be some big fancy showroom. It’s more of a place where we get the work done and talk to whoever comes through the door. Sometimes the traffic outside gets so loud we have to shout over the phone just to be heard. We do our own inventory and packing right here on the floor. It gets messy, but it’s our mess. My brother helps out on the weekends when it gets a bit more hectic. We don't have a big marketing plan or anything. We just open up in the morning and see what the day brings. Most of our regulars live just a few streets away, so it feels like a neighborhood thing rather than a big business operation.
