Rudraksha Butick

Our little shop, Rudraksha Butick, is located at 18 Manikeswari Road in Kilpauk. It’s a nice enough street, and we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors all know us. The shop itself is pretty simple. We have some wooden racks and a few mirrors on the walls so people can see what they’re trying on. It’s not one of those modern boutiques with minimalist decor. We have piles of fabric and half-finished projects sitting on the chairs more often than not. The floor is old tile that we try to keep clean, but the dust from the road always finds its way in. We don’t have a big staff, just me and a helper who comes in during the afternoons. We do a lot of the sewing and alterations right here behind the main counter. You can hear the hum of the machine if you come in at the right time. Kilpauk is a busy area, but our street stays relatively calm compared to the main roads. We don’t spend money on ads or social media influencers. People just see our sign when they’re walking by or hear about us from their family. We try to keep things honest and just do the work that comes our way. It’s a small life, but it keeps us busy. Sometimes we stay open a bit late if someone is coming from work to pick something up.
