At 83, Kutchery Road in Mylapore, you’ll find the office for Kbn Freightways Pvt. Ltd. It’s an old part of Chennai, and the street outside is always full of people, cars, and the occasional cow. Our office is tucked away in a building that’s been there for decades. Inside, it’s mostly just stacks of paperwork, some old landline phones that ring more than they should, and a few fans spinning on the ceiling. We handle freight, so a lot of our time is spent tracking where trucks are and making sure the drivers have what they need. It’s a lot of phone calls and a lot of waiting for updates. The space isn't modern at all. We have wooden desks that have been scratched up over the years and a floor that’s seen a lot of foot traffic. We don't use much technology beyond what’s necessary for the job. It’s a bit of a maze in here with all the files, but we know where everything is. Being in Mylapore means we’re close to everything, but the traffic can be a nightmare in the evenings. We just keep our heads down and focus on the logistics. There aren't any motivational posters on the walls, just some old calendars and maybe a map of the local routes. It’s steady work that requires a lot of patience and a bit of luck with the roads.
