About Kataria Glassware House – Industrial Plant & Machines in Chennai
We sit at 13 Evening Bazaar Road. Working with glass is a tricky business because everything is so fragile. One wrong move and you’ve got a mess to sweep up. We’ve had our fair share of broken plates and vases over the years. The shop isn't very big, so we have to stack the crates carefully. It’s a bit of a maze inside. We sell all sorts of glassware for kitchens and shops. Some of it is plain and some has patterns, but it all gets dusty if it sits too long. We spend a lot of time wrapping things in old newspaper to make sure they don't crack when people take them home. The street outside is usually busy with people walking by. We’ve been here long enough that most of the other shopkeepers are friends. We open up early and stay until the market starts to quiet down. It’s mostly just me and a helper. We don't do fancy displays. If you want to see something, we just pull it out of the box for you. Sometimes the inventory is a bit disorganized, but we usually find what we're looking for eventually. It’s a quiet life, mostly. Just making sure the glass stays in one piece and the customers are satisfied with what they bought for their homes. That is the way we have always done things.
