Kalyani Publishers

Our office is at Plot No. 1 on Mahalakshmi Street, right in the middle of T. Nagar. If you know T. Nagar, you know it’s one of the busiest parts of the city. Mahalakshmi Street is no exception, though it’s a little more manageable than the main market roads. Kalyani Publishers has been at this address for quite some time. The building is filled with books, papers, and manuscripts. It’s a bit of a crowded space because publishing involves so much physical material. We have stacks of printed books waiting to be sent out and boxes of paper everywhere. It’s a working office, not a library, so things can look a bit messy during the busy seasons. We have a few old desks and some computers where the editing and layout happen. The air is always a bit heavy with the smell of ink and paper. Outside, the street is usually full of parked bikes and people moving around. We don’t have a fancy lobby or a receptionist in a suit. Usually, you’ll just find one of us buried under some files or talking on the phone with the printers. T. Nagar is a great place to be because everything is close by, but the traffic can be a headache sometimes. We just focus on getting the books ready and out the door. It’s a lot of work, but we’ve been doing it this way at Plot No. 1 for many years now and we're used to the pace.
