Hayagreeva Fancy House

Our shop is in Chromepet, right on Valluvar High Road. We are very close to the Bharati Vinayaka Temple, which is a big landmark around here. It’s a busy street in the Kancheepuram district. We call it a fancy house because we sell all those little things like ribbons, bangles, and small gifts. The shop is full of colors and different items hanging from the ceiling and tucked into bins. It’s not very big, and it can feel a bit crowded when we get a lot of customers at once. We don't have a computer system or anything like that. We just know where everything is and we write things down in a ledger. It’s a very traditional way of doing things. The temple nearby brings in a lot of people, especially on festival days. That’s when we are the busiest. We usually have a bit of music playing in the background. It’s a family-run kind of place. We don't have any big corporate goals or anything. We just want to keep the shelves stocked with things people like to buy. Sometimes a shipment of bangles arrives broken, and we have to sort through them. It’s just the daily grind. We enjoy talking to the neighbors and seeing the kids grow up. It’s a nice little corner of the world to be in. We just keep the doors open and the lights on for everyone.
