Jenifers

Jenifers is located at Number 20/6 on Narasingapuram Street, right off the busy Mount Road. This part of the city is quite old and the streets are very narrow, so it can be a bit of a struggle to get through the crowds. Our shop has been here for a long time, and you can see it in the way the wooden shelves have started to sag under the weight of the stock. We have things piled up from the floor to the ceiling. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we usually know where everything is if you give us a minute to look. The building is traditional and doesn't have any of those modern glass fronts you see in the new malls. We have a big heavy door that we push open every morning. The air inside smells a bit like old fabric and paper, which is a scent we've grown to love over the years. We get a lot of people who come in just to see what’s new or to chat for a few minutes. It’s a very social place. We don't have a big sign or any bright lights. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been here long enough for people to know our name. The floorboards creak when you walk on them and the lighting is a bit dim in the back. It’s just a simple, old-fashioned shop where we spend our days.
