Jayasri Plastics

Out on Old Madras Road, the traffic is almost always a nightmare. We are located at 37/345, Bhattarahalli, K.R. Puram, and Jayasri Plastics has been part of this landscape for a good while. You can hear the bikes and buses zooming past all day long. Inside, it’s a different kind of noise—the sound of the plastic molding machines. We have these big bags of plastic pellets stacked up in the corner, and they get everywhere if a bag gets a small tear. It’s a bit of a messy business, honestly. The machines generate a lot of heat, so even with the big exhaust fans, it stays warm. We make all sorts of plastic items, mostly things people use without thinking about it much. I spend a lot of time walking between the machines and the front desk. The floor is stained with oil in a few places, and we’ve given up on trying to get it perfectly clean. It’s an industrial space, after all. We have a small group of workers who live nearby, so they just walk or bike in. K.R. Puram is growing so fast, and sometimes I feel like the city is just swallowing us up. But we just keep doing our thing, melting the plastic and packing the crates. It’s honest work, and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sunday is the only day the machines finally go quiet and we can rest.
