T Nagar is easily the busiest part of Chennai, and we are right in the thick of it on Natesan Street. Jayapriya Sands is based on the second floor of the Siva Vishnu Complex. From our office windows, you can always hear the sounds of the temple bells and the thousands of shoppers walking by. Dealing in sand and various construction materials from a crowded commercial area like this is quite interesting. We spend a huge chunk of our day on the phone with site managers and the truck drivers who are trying to navigate the city. The office is often cluttered with samples of different types of sand and small stones. It is a bit messy, but it is just how we work day to day. We don't have any fancy decor or expensive furniture. We just have some chairs that have seen much better days and a whole lot of logbooks. The traffic outside is so bad that it makes it difficult for people to visit us in person, so we do almost all of our business over the phone or through messages. We have to track where the sand is coming from and exactly where it needs to be delivered. It involves a lot of logistics and worrying about the timing. Sometimes the trucks get delayed at the city checkpoints, and we have to handle the calls. We just take it as it comes.
