Our office is tucked away at No. 5, East India Chambers on Valluvarkottam High Road in Nungambakkam. It’s a busy part of the city, and being here in the middle of all that activity keeps us on our toes. Even though the name Lafarge Aggregates & Concrete India Pvt. Ltd. sounds like a big corporate title, the people working here are just regular folks trying to get the job done. We deal with concrete and aggregates, which means a lot of coordination between our site and the various projects going on around the city. The office is usually full of maps and schedules scribbled on boards. Nungambakkam is a hectic place to work, but we like being in the heart of things. We spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to drivers and site managers, making sure everything is moving like it should. It’s not always smooth; traffic in Chennai can be a real headache and sometimes things get delayed. We don't use any fancy words to describe what we do. We just provide the materials that people need to build things. Most of us have been in this industry for a long time, so we’ve seen how the city has grown over the years. We take our lunch breaks at the local spots nearby and then get right back to the paperwork and the planning. It’s a steady, hardworking environment where everyone knows their role and just gets on with it every day without much fuss.
