Intex City Enterprises

Located on North Mada Street in Vadapalani, we are right in the thick of things. Anyone who knows this part of Chennai knows how busy it gets with the temple nearby and the constant flow of people. Intex City Enterprises is squeezed into 22/63, and it is a typical local setup. We deal with various items, mostly supplying things that other businesses or households need. It’s a lot of manual work, moving stock in the humidity and trying to find space for new arrivals. The street outside is always noisy with horns and people talking, so our doors are usually kept shut to keep some of the heat out. We don't have a corporate structure with managers and sub-managers. It’s just a few of us making sure the accounts are right and the customers get what they came for. Sometimes we lose track of time because there is always something to reorganize or a delivery to check. We’ve been here long enough that we know most of the shopkeepers on the street. We share news over the counter and complain about the rain when it floods the road. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s our life. We do our best to stay on top of the orders without making too much of a fuss about it. The fans are always on full speed but it hardly helps with the sweat.
