Hind Casting & Engg. Works

Hind Casting & Engg. Works is located at 38/4A, Ramtanu Bose Lane. This lane is narrow, so it can be a bit of a squeeze for the bigger trucks, but we’ve lived with it for a long time. Inside the workshop, things get pretty hot, especially when the furnaces are going. That’s just the nature of casting work. We make all sorts of parts, mostly things people don’t think about until they break. It’s a lot of manual labor, pouring molten metal and waiting for things to cool down so we can finish them up properly. We aren’t some big factory with robots. It’s just a group of us who know the trade. Some days are longer than others, especially when a big order comes in and we have to stay late to finish the pours. The air smells like hot metal and sand, which I guess you get used to after a week or two. My dad started this place, and not much has changed since then, besides the tools getting a bit older. We don't spend money on fancy signs or glossy brochures. Our name is painted on the door and that’s about it. People in the neighborhood know us, and we know them. It’s a quiet way to make a living, even with all the noise from the machines. We just keep our heads down and get the casting done one piece at a time, making sure it's solid.
