Exemplary Marine Institute Foundation

We are located at 15/1 Zenith Flats on Brindavan Street in Mylapore. It’s a busy little corner of Chennai. We focus on marine education and training. It’s not a massive campus; we operate out of these flats. We have a few rooms set up for teaching and an office for the paperwork. It’s a bit crowded when we have a full class, but we make it work. The instructors are mostly retired sea captains or people who spent years on ships. They have a lot of stories to tell. We don't have a big glossy prospectus. Most people find us because they want to get into the merchant navy or need specific certifications. We keep things very practical. There’s no point in teaching stuff people won't use at sea. My aunt helps with the registrations at the front desk. She knows everyone’s name after their first day. It’s a friendly place. We drink a lot of coffee and talk about the ocean. Sometimes the noise from the street is a bit much, but that’s just life in Mylapore. We’ve been here for a while and the neighbors know us. We aren't trying to be the biggest institute out there. We just want to give people the right skills so they can get a job and stay safe. It’s straightforward work and we enjoy doing it here. It’s a good feeling when one of our students gets their first posting on a ship.
