B. K. S. Impex

B. K. S. Impex is tucked away at No. 11 Subramaniam Lane in the Chepauk area. If you know Chepauk, you know it’s famous for the cricket, but for us, it’s just where we come to work every morning. Subramaniam Lane is one of those small streets where everyone knows what everyone else is doing. Our office at No. 11 isn't huge, but it's enough for what we do with impex. We spend most of our hours dealing with various suppliers and making sure our exports are on track. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we usually have the fans on full blast while we sort through the paperwork. We don’t have a lot of fancy equipment, just what we need to get the job done. The people working here are just regular folks from the local neighborhood. We don't use big words or have long meetings. We just talk across the desks to figure things out. Sometimes the delivery trucks have a hard time getting into the lane, so we have to go out and help them navigate the tight turns. It’s just part of the daily routine. We’ve been in Chepauk for a while and like being part of the local scene. It’s a busy, noisy, and lived-in place, which suits us just fine. We just keep our focus on the daily shipments and whatever the next task on the list happens to be.
