V. V. Rubber Industries

V. V. Rubber Industries is located at No. 1 Mettu Street, right off Poonamallee Road in Ekkattuthangal. This area is full of workshops and small factories, so there is always the sound of machines and trucks moving about. Our place is pretty typical for this part of town. Inside, there is the heavy smell of raw rubber and the heat from the presses we use. We spend our days cutting, molding, and checking the pieces that come off the line. My hands are usually stained black by the end of the shift, and no amount of soap really gets it all off. We have a small office area near the front where the paperwork stays, but most of the action is in the back. It gets very warm in the afternoons, so we keep the big doors open to catch whatever breeze comes off the road. The traffic on Poonamallee Road is always heavy, and we can hear the horns honking all day long. We have been at this location for years, and we know all the other shop owners nearby. Sometimes we share a tea or help someone out with a tool they are missing. It is hard work and it is often messy, but it is what we do here. We just focus on the orders we have and try to keep the machines running without too much trouble until it is time to close the gate.
