Lakshmi Rubber Industries Guindy

Our factory is at No. 2 Rajarajan Street in Vishalakshi Nagar, which is part of Ekkatuthangal. It’s near the Guindy industrial area, so there are a lot of workshops around here. We work with rubber. We make all sorts of industrial parts like gaskets and bushes. The smell of rubber is something you get used to after a few days, but visitors always notice it. It’s a small place with a few heavy machines. We’ve had the same machines for a long time. They are loud and they make the floor vibrate. We don't have a fancy office upstairs. We just have a small desk near the entrance. Most of the day, we are out on the floor making sure the molds are right. It’s hot work, especially during the Chennai summers. We don't have a sales team or a marketing person. Most of our work comes from other businesses in Guindy who know we do decent work. We just take the orders, make the parts, and send them out. Sometimes the rubber doesn't set right and we have to start over. It’s part of the process. We’ve been in Ekkatuthangal for years. The street is a bit narrow, so it’s always a squeeze when we have deliveries. We just keep things simple and focus on the work. It’s a small operation, and we like it that way.
