Education Matters

Education Matters is based right here at 11 Sami St in Pudupet, Chennai 2. It’s an old neighborhood, and our building has been here for quite some time. The stairs are a bit narrow and the paint is peeling in a couple of spots, but it works for us. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, chairs, and a whole lot of files. We don’t really go in for the fancy office look. There’s a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit on high speed, but it keeps the air moving. We spend our time helping students figure out their school stuff. It involves a lot of reading and checking facts. Sometimes we spend hours on the phone with various offices trying to get a straight answer for someone. It’s not always easy, but we just keep at it. We’ve lived and worked in Chennai for years, so we know how things go around here. There’s a tea stall just down the street where we usually grab something in the afternoon. We aren't trying to be the biggest business in the city. We just want to do our bit and help out the folks who come through the door. It’s a simple way to make a living. We’re usually here until late if there’s a deadline coming up. The rain in Chennai can be a real problem for the old roof at Sami St, so we keep some buckets handy just in case. It’s just one of those things.
