Chennai Cars

Started at the Makkah Mosque complex on Annasalai a few years back. Mount Road is always packed with cars, so it made sense to set up shop here at number 822. Most days are just spent looking at engines or talking to folks coming in from the heat. We have Shop 10. It is not a huge place, but it fits what we need for the cars. You see all sorts of vehicles passing by the mosque every hour. It gets really noisy with the traffic outside, but that is just how things are in this part of Chennai. I usually get here early to open up before the sun gets too high. It is a family thing, really. My uncle used to work nearby too. We do not do anything fancy, just standard work on the cars that come through. Sometimes people stop by just to ask directions since we are right on the main road. The complex is pretty well-known around here. We handle the paperwork at a small desk in the back. It’s a lot of grease and hands-on stuff most of the time. We have seen the city change a lot from this storefront. The Metro work and everything else have made things different, but we are still here in the same spot. It’s just a regular local business trying to get through the daily list of jobs we have to do before going home to our families in the evening.
