Meyyur is a bit out of the way compared to the main city areas of Kancheepuram. Our office for Avalon Technologies Pvt Ltd is right on Dharmaraja Kovil Street, at number 18. It is much quieter out here than in the middle of Chennai. You can actually hear the birds in the morning and the temple bells when there’s a festival or a regular prayer going on. The building is a simple structure, very traditional for this village area. We don't have fancy air conditioning in every room, so we mostly rely on the breeze and the high ceilings to keep things comfortable. It’s a different pace of life in Meyyur Village. People move a bit slower and everyone knows everyone else’s business. We have our computers set up and we do our work just like any other tech company, but the view outside the window is mostly trees and old houses. Sometimes the internet can be a bit slow if the weather is bad, but we just wait it out. It’s a good place to be if you don’t like the constant noise of traffic. We get our lunch from the local mess and it’s usually better than anything you’d find in a mall. It’s just a practical, honest way to run a business. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a big glass building. This spot suits us just fine for what we do.
