Archimage

You can find us over on Mariadoss Street, not too far from the Harbour Bridge in Royapuram. It’s an interesting area to be in, especially with the sea breeze coming in sometimes. Our space is called Archimage, and mostly we just sit here and draw up plans for buildings. It’s a lot of sitting at computers and looking at sketches on paper. The office is usually a bit messy because of all the samples and drawings we keep around. We aren't really the type to have a polished front office. It’s more like a workshop where things are constantly being moved. People come by to see how their house or shop designs are coming along. We try to keep it simple and just listen to what they need. Sometimes we argue about where a wall should go or how the light hits a room, but that’s just part of the job. Royapuram has a specific feel to it, and we like being part of the local scene here. It’s not always easy keeping up with all the new rules for building, but we manage. We’ve been at this for some time now. Most days it’s just us and the sound of the traffic outside the window. We don’t do much advertising, mostly just people hearing about us from others in the neighborhood. It’s a quiet life of designing and planning, and we like the practical side of making things work on paper.
