Ruchita Traders

Our place is in the village of Korpana, which is in the Taluka Rajura area. We are located near Akola village, right in the heart of the rural countryside. Being out here means life moves a bit slower than in the big cities. We deal with trading all sorts of local goods. Our building is a simple structure with a large front area where the tractors and trucks can pull in. There is always a lot of dust because the roads around here aren't all paved. We spend our mornings talking to the farmers who bring in their produce or picking up supplies that need to go to the local markets. It’s a lot of sitting on the porch and waiting for the right person to show up, then a sudden burst of work where we are hauling bags and counting items. We don't have a computer system or anything like that; we just use a small diary to keep track of who owes what. The weather really dictates our day. If it’s too hot, we stop for a long break in the afternoon. If it’s raining, we have to make sure everything is covered up tight with plastic sheets so nothing gets spoiled. It’s a basic life, but it’s what we know. We’ve been in Korpana for years and we know just about everyone who passes by our door.
