Vision Electronics

Down here in Phase VII of the Mohali Industrial Area, things are a bit different than the main city markets. Our workshop at G 4 is surrounded by factories and the sound of heavy machinery running in the background. We spend most of our time hunched over workbenches with soldering irons in our hands. The tables are covered in tiny screws, wire clippings, and green circuit boards from televisions and other gadgets people bring in to get fixed. It’s a dusty place because of all the industrial work going on nearby, so we are always cleaning the screens before we give them back. We have a lot of old parts piled up in the corners, things we keep just in case we need a specific capacitor or a ribbon cable that isn't made anymore. The light isn't great, so we have these bright lamps clamped to the edges of the desks. It gets loud during the day with the trucks rolling past the front door, making the glass rattle a little. We don't have a fancy sign or a shiny front window. It’s just a place where we do the work, trying to figure out why a power supply failed or why a screen is flickering. Some days are long, especially when a repair is stubborn and won't work right, but we just keep at it until the sun goes down over the industrial sheds.
