Sahzad Hair Dresser

I've been working at Shop No-90 in the Luxmi Naryan Market for a long time. This part of Sector 26 is always moving because the Sabzi Mandi is right there. Sahzad Hair Dresser is where I spend most of my waking hours. The floor has those old tiles that I try to keep clean, but people bring in a lot of dirt from the vegetable stalls. My mirrors have seen a lot of faces over the years. Most of the men who come in are working nearby and just want a simple cut or a shave before they head home. We talk about how the city is changing or how hot the sun is. I don't have fancy air conditioning, just a ceiling fan that does its best. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just wait it out. It's not a place with big posters or bright lights. I have my tools and a comfortable chair for whoever walks in. Being in Sector 26 means you see the real Chandigarh, the one that works hard every day. I open up early and don't leave until the last customer is done. It's a simple way to live, and I've got no complaints. The smell of the market is always in the air here. I just keep my scissors sharp and the water ready for the next person who needs a trim.
