We operate out of Sco 18 on the top floor in Sector 20D, Chandigarh. Being on the top floor means we get a lot of steps in every day, and it can get quite warm in the summer months. Sector 20 is a busy part of town, so there is always a lot of activity outside. We have been here for a bit, and the walls are mostly covered with periodic tables and some old science charts. Our setup is quite simple, with basic benches and a few cupboards for keeping chemicals and glass jars. It’s a place for people who really want to look into chemistry and nothing else. We don’t have any fancy lounge areas or high-end decor. Most of the time, the air smells slightly of lab supplies, which is just part of the job. In the winters, the top floor is actually quite nice because it stays a bit warmer. We usually have the windows open when the weather allows to let some fresh air in. The street noise from Sector 20 doesn’t reach us too much since we are high up. We usually have a kettle going for tea during the breaks. It’s just a regular spot where we spend our hours teaching and grading papers. Nothing too complicated or polished, just a functional space for chemistry students and the staff who help them.
