We have stacks of handloom goods that have been coming in from different weavers. It’s not the kind of place where everything is shiny and new; it feels a bit more lived-in. We spend our days checking the quality of the weaves and talking to people who come by after visiting the lake. Sometimes it gets quiet, which gives us time to reorganize the shelves, though they never stay organized for long. People like the feel of the real material, and we spend a lot of time explaining how certain things are made, even though it’s just part of the job. We don’t have a website that works half the time, so we mostly talk to people face-to-face. The sun comes through the windows at a certain angle in the afternoon and hits the colors of the thread just right. It’s a simple setup.
