N Singh & Sons

N Singh & Sons is located in Sector 22, specifically Sec 22D at shop number 21. My grandfather started this place, and the sign outside is getting a bit faded now. We’ve stayed in this same spot through a lot of changes in the market. It’s a traditional shop. We carry a bit of everything that people in the neighborhood might need for their homes. Most of the regulars have been coming to us for twenty years or more. They know my name and I know theirs. It’s not a big supermarket where you can't find anyone to help you. We sit on the wooden stools behind the counter and wait for people to drop in. Sometimes it’s just for a chat, but usually, they need something specific. The shelves are packed with stuff in no particular order that a stranger would understand, but we know exactly where the smallest item is. The floor is old stone and stays cool in the summer. We don't have air conditioning, just the big ceiling fans that hum all day long. In the evenings, the market gets really crowded, so we usually keep the doors open to catch whatever breeze there is. It’s a simple life. We close up around eight and head home. We aren't trying to expand or do anything flashy. We just want to keep the shop running like it always has. It’s nice to have something that stays the same.
