Our office is in Balvi Bhavan, right across from the Punjab Bakery in Jam-Khambhaliya. If you know where the Chandani Masjid is, then you’ve probably walked right past us a dozen times. We deal with cement, so things tend to get a bit dusty around here, especially when the wind picks up in the afternoon. It’s a basic setup. We spend most of our time talking to contractors and making sure the bags are loaded correctly on the lorries. Sometimes the bakery smells better than our yard, that’s for sure. We’ve been in this spot for years. It’s a local operation and we know most of the people who come through the door by their names. We don’t have a website or anything like that. We just rely on people knowing we’re here at 361 305. The Jam-Khambhaliya area is growing, so there’s always someone building a wall or a new house. It keeps us on our toes. Sometimes the paperwork gets backed up because we’re short-staffed, but we get through it eventually. We don't use big words or try to act like we’re more than we are. We just provide cement to the local builders. It’s a simple life. The sun gets hot in Gujarat, but we have a fan in the corner that mostly works. We just keep going, day after day, making sure the supply stays steady for everyone who needs it.
