Khan Hair Dresser

I run the Khan Hair Dresser shop at number 15 in Baltana. It’s a small shop in the 160001 area of Chandigarh. I’ve been in this same spot for a while now. It’s just a simple room with a couple of barber chairs and some big mirrors on the wall. I don’t have any fancy signs or big lights. Most people find me because they live nearby or their friends told them about the shop. It’s a basic place. I spend most of my day standing on the linoleum floor. It gets hard on the back after a few hours. I keep a small television in the corner, usually showing the news or a cricket match. People like to talk while they sit in the chair. We talk about everything from the price of vegetables to the local politics. The shop gets a bit dusty because of the road outside, so I’m always wiping things down. I’ve got my clippers and my straight razors all lined up. It’s a one-man show mostly. I like the independence of it. Sometimes I stay open late if there are people waiting. It’s just a regular local hair dresser. Nothing special to look at, but we do the work every day. It’s my living and I’m used to the rhythm of it. There is always someone needing a trim.
