The address is 409 Sector 44, which is where you’ll find City Book Centre. It’s a pretty standard building, nothing that really stands out from the street, but once you’re inside, the smell of paper and old bindings hits you right away. We have books stacked up in piles because there never seems to be enough shelf space. Some of the stacks are a bit wobbly, so you have to be careful when you’re walking through the aisles. Sector 44 is a bit quieter than the main markets, which is nice for a place like this. You don’t get a lot of through traffic, mostly just people who live nearby or someone who really loves to read. We spend a lot of time sorting through boxes of new arrivals or helping someone find a specific title they remember from their childhood. The lighting isn't great, just some fluorescent tubes that hum a bit, but it gets the job done. There’s a small stool behind the counter where we sit and wait for the bell on the door to ring. It’s a slow-paced kind of life here at 409. We don't have any fancy coffee machines or reading nooks, just the books and the shelves. On rainy days, it gets a bit damp inside, but that’s just part of the charm of an old shop. We like being part of the Sector 44 community and seeing the same people week after week.
