Jain Crockery & Gift Shop

Jain Crockery & Gift Shop is sitting at 36/3 in Ganga Nagar, Manimajra. It’s one of those shops where you have to be a little careful not to bump into things because we have so much glass and ceramic out on display. We spend a good chunk of every morning wiping down the plates and the tea sets because they catch the dust so easily. Ganga Nagar is a lively neighborhood, and we see the same faces walking by every day. Some people stop in just to see if we have anything new, while others are looking for a very specific type of bowl to replace one they broke. We have boxes piled up in the corners, mostly stuff that just arrived and hasn't been put on the shelves yet. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it swept, but someone always brings in a bit of dirt from the street. It’s a family-run kind of place, so there’s usually someone around to help out, even if they’re just sitting in the back having a snack. We don’t use any computer systems for the stock; it’s all just written down in a big ledger book that’s starting to fall apart at the spine. The lighting is okay, but it gets a bit dim in the back of the shop near the heavy storage boxes. We like being in Manimajra, it feels like a real community where everyone knows everyone else’s business.
