Our shop is at Booth No 354 in the middle of Azad Market. Sector 20D is a fairly active area of Chandigarh, and being here means we see a lot of the daily bustle. The shop itself is small, just a standard booth, but it works for what we do every day. We usually get the lights on early and start setting out the combs and scissors on the counters. There is a specific way the sun hits the front window in the morning. It’s not a quiet place because the market is always moving, with people shouting or bikes starting up right outside. We have a few chairs that have seen a lot of use over the years, and the mirrors have a couple of smudges that never quite go away no matter how much we wipe them. Most of our regulars live nearby and just drop in when they have a spare thirty minutes. Sometimes we send someone out to get tea from the stall across the way while a customer is waiting. It is mostly about getting the job done without too much fuss. When it rains, the water sometimes splashes near the entrance, so we have to keep a mop handy. It’s just a normal hair shop where we spend our hours until it’s time to pull the shutters down and head home. We do not do anything complicated here, just the usual cuts and shaves that people need.
